So i'll ask you this question 1st! As a consumer is it about YOU! or do you PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE to your credit union? DO YOU DRINK THE KOOL AID? Have you fallen for the Banana in the tailpipe? So you HAVE TO LET THEM FINANCE YOU HUH? LOL I laugh because the jokes on you! You've been bamboozled!<br />
<br />
Here's how it all unfolds for sooooommmmmeeeee people!! They get an approval for a car for say $35,000 dollars at the credit union at let's say 6.9%. Decent rate right? Or is it? Remember the credit union is 1 BANK! To quote the great CHRIS ROCK! I WANT ONE RIB!!! lol I say that to say this. If you allow them to do the financing that's GREAT! HOWEVERRRRRRRR #STEVENASMITHVOICE. Is it about MR & MRS (your name here) or about BLAH,BLAH,BLAH CREDIT UNION? If it's about your corporation, which is HUBBY & WIFEY ENTERTAINMENT, lol, then the correct way to proceed is THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
YOU ALLOW THE DEALERSHIP 1 CRACK AT BEATING THE RATE! They will not shotgun your credit all over the place like the DUDE at your credit union is telling you!! He wants you to go directly to him!! Nowhere else!! So he can get paid!! He will tell you something like... "well I know their rate is cheaper, but direct deposit, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.. OR some other CREDIT UNION DUDE RHETORIC! Most dealerships have multiple sources to go through for financing, and it's a dog eat dog business! The dealership may have an arrangement with the credit union direct to go around your loan officer and get you a better rate with more incentives but it has to go DIRECTLY THROUGH THE DEALERSHIPS CHANNELS rather than to CREDIT UNION DUDE. And in the end will save a great deal of money! Which is what you should want to accomplish! GET IT? If not #SIGH let me go deeper, AIGHT!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Your goal when you go onto any car lot is to get the car you have been dreaming about for the best price!! If it's not, then your job may need to drug test you, lol. Sometimes the dealerships and the lenders need to make their numbers and will destroy a credit unions numbers to get the deal for themselves! Which saves you money!! So we started at 6.9% 2 paragraphs ago right? Well now let's say the dealership got you 1.9 on that same $35,000 for 72 months and no payment for 90 days/ or gap insurance included. THAT'S $80 PER MONTH!! OVER 72 MONTHS ITS $5782!! WOW!! Check it out at <a href="http://bankrate.com/"><b>BANKRATE.COM</b></a> if you don't believe me!!</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8mLdL15Y34o/VOFqJTXVi-I/AAAAAAAAAGs/FdLvtn1ATDY/s1600/usedcarsalesman.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8mLdL15Y34o/VOFqJTXVi-I/AAAAAAAAAGs/FdLvtn1ATDY/s1600/usedcarsalesman.jpg" height="507" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">#CreditUnionDude</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now i will close it like thissssssssssssssssss!! You don't have to believe me! LOL, Remember I'm a salesman, I DON'T CARE WHO FINANCES IT!! I get paid to sell the car! So cash, check, or can goods I get paid either way! So what interest do I have? My interest is making sure that you buy the vehicle! But I have seen many credit unions hold up deals!! AND YOU SAY HOW TONY?????!!!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
People come onto the lot with something like only $15k to find a car, which handcuffs you!! THE BEST PRACTICE IS THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. It's just like buying a house, but even better!!! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
GET APPROVED WITH YOUR CREDIT UNION, #COMESEEYAMAN!! LET ME PICK OUT THE VEHICLE OF YOUR DREAMS! THEN LET THE FINANCE GUYS GO TO WORK! IF THEY BEAT YOUR CREDIT UNION COOL, AND IF NOT COOL!! YOU STILL GOT THAT NEW WHIP RIGHT?!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
BUT IF THE CREDIT'S UNIONS KOOL AID IS THAT GREAT EVEN IF THEY ARE HIGHER THEN AFTER YOU GET THE GOOD RATE..... I GUESS YOU CAN SEE IF THEY CAN BEAT THE DEALERSHIP RATE! NOTICE A TREND?!! YOU ARE THE WINNER!!! </div>

FREE GAME!Income tax checks are hitting as we speak!! People are flooding car lots all over the country!! Every car lot is #PACKED!! Be careful with your vehicle selection! The last thing you want to do is spend your entire income tax on a #BUCKET and it break down before Memorial Day Weekend and you be #STUCKLIKECHUCK. Do your research! Come to my site and read my blogs! Oh you don't like me...LOL cool!! Then go here <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/" target="_blank">#EDMONDS</a>, <a href="http://www.bankrate.com/" target="_blank">#BANKRATE</a>, or <a href="http://www.nada.com/" target="_blank">#NADA</a>. These sites are where smart shoppers go for information rather than ask people in a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/BallersOnABudget/" target="_blank">Facebook group</a> that has a bunch of people with credit challenges(HARSH BUT TRUE), I see it everyday. You are only as good as your resources! Utilize your resources and you can get the deal you never imagined!! There is too much public info out here for anyone to be in a group on Facebook asking "does anyone know how much down on a #BLAH #BLAH#BLAH". <a href="http://youtu.be/BuMBmK5uksg" target="_blank">Hate it or love it!</a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://youtu.be/BuMBmK5uksg" target="_blank"></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k2R_TEgSO2c/VNhbT342eqI/AAAAAAAAAGc/tMbrsV2-dVE/s1600/Monday%2Bmorning%2Bblues.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k2R_TEgSO2c/VNhbT342eqI/AAAAAAAAAGc/tMbrsV2-dVE/s1600/Monday%2Bmorning%2Bblues.jpg" height="257" width="320" /></a></div>
But it's the truth! Do your research people or light a match to this years income tax and continue to be stuck in that eternal ABYSS and repeat the same cycle by next year buying another bucket!! Hey, like my man <a href="https://www.facebook.com/fivesixgrizzlymedia" target="_blank">#GRIZZLY</a> says, "Don't shoot the messenger!"Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00430932660228934669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3788756843678595821.post-30512327962745199672015-01-27T16:06:00.000-08:002015-01-27T16:06:34.160-08:00DON'T REPEAT THE SAME IGNORANT CYCLE!Every year at income tax time people make the same mistake over and over,.... year by year!! They go buy a piece of junk from a tote the note lot with no warranty! Then when the car breaks they have to choose between the repair and rent! Stop buying BEATUP vehicles from SHADY car lots! Do your homework! Does the car have a clean CARFAX report? Has it been in an accident? How long are you planning on financing it? Does it have over 100,000 miles? If so the payment won't be that good on it! You'll be paying a NEW CAR payment for a BUCKET!! USE YOUR HEAD!! You are a payment shopper!!! You need to get something newer with a warranty that you can finance for 72 months and it's reliable in order to repair your credit. Then you may have a chance to get a nice vehicle NEXT YEAR when you get your income tax instead of another bucket! Do what you like, just my 2 cents. Hope this helps someone. <a href="http://www.bankrate.com/calculators/auto/auto-loan-calculator.aspx" target="_blank"> Go to this link and calculate your payment for 36 months on a $10,000 bucket and then do 72 months on a $18,000 new car.</a> Youu can buy a car from this guy pictured below or #comeseeyaman #ineedacartony. <br />

HOW MUCH DOWN????? My favorite question, -_- lol. Actually it's a very good question!! My answer is $5,000!!!! Kind of silly right? <a href="http://youtu.be/h1vKOchATXs?t=58s" target="_blank">Well let me explain like instructions to a game!</a> Down payment is based on a variety of things. 1. Credit. If your credit is strong enough you can get approved for 100% financing and have to put <a href="http://youtu.be/15qsJmCkoCM" target="_blank">ZERO</a> down!! Or if your credit is challenged you need anywhere from 10% of the vehicle to as much as 50% if you are really in dire straits! As a rule of thumb try to have $1,500 down to pay the TT&L. 2. TRADE. Is there a trade involved? If there is and you are upside down in it, you may have to come with a lump sum to offset the negative equity. 3. <a href="http://youtu.be/PBwAxmrE194" target="_blank">CASH IS KING! </a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Oom2ISBCLLA/VLkoL63UKNI/AAAAAAAAAFU/RmCr-FAmX2E/s1600/malibu.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Oom2ISBCLLA/VLkoL63UKNI/AAAAAAAAAFU/RmCr-FAmX2E/s1600/malibu.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>

Did the title fool you? Ok, ok, ok..... I'm not taking on the whole city. I say that to say this. There's only 1 of me and 4 million people in this city , and our website touches a great deal of them daily. That being said, it's almost income tax season. I'm busier than 99% of the car salesmen you've ever met. The protocol going forward is as follows. If you want a car from me or are referring me someone go to the website and fill out the "SEARCH FOR A VEHICLE TAB". Those go directly to a member of our staff and either I will call you or a member of my team will shortly. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and I look forward to rather than battling the whole H TOWN like the title suggests but selling them all a car!! Today is my off day and I'm not going in, however you are welcome to join me for lunch at Perry's LOL!!<br />

The rest of the country had their recession! Meanwhile, back at the ranch AKA H town, the Houston economy was arguably one of the strongest in the country. If you aren't familiar Houston is a concrete jungle and a farm all in one! It combines big city business with HOLE IN THE WALL values. The city's economy is driven by the oil, medical and automotive industry. <a href="http://www.houstongasprices.com/" target="_blank">The current national average is $2.14, Houston is $1.93.</a> If gas is not $3 by Memorial Day weekend which is 20 weeks away, it could spell trouble for <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/htowncadillacowners/" target="_blank">Houston! </a> Feel free to chime in with your thoughts in comments.<br />

<br />
With all of the holiday hoopla and end of the year close out with the car business, people forgot about the big bash that <b><a href="http://www.ineedacartony.com/">WWW.INEEDACARTONY.COM</a></b> will be the official sponsor of,<b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Zodiac-Bowl/594105537382594" target="_blank"> THE ZODIAC BOWL!!!</a> </b>What is the<a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Zodiac-Bowl/594105537382594" target="_blank"> <b>ZODIAC BOWL</b></a> you ask? Good question! For years there have been theme parties targeting zodiac signs which have been successful. <br />
<br />
I've done a few myself!! I thought about one that could be done on a regular basis with 2 signs competing like a football game!! This 1st highly anticipated one will be Sagittarius Vs Capricorn. Those 2 signs will receive special treatment the week of the event because it's yall's turn!!<br />
<br />
The <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Zodiac-Bowl/594105537382594" target="_blank">ZODIAC BOWL</a> </b>isn't just a cash cow designed to make a bunch of money. There will be a charity component and a community building component as well. Often there are massive parties where we have an opportunity to do something positive for the community and miss the opportunity. With the <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Zodiac-Bowl/594105537382594" target="_blank">ZODIAC BOWL </a></b>we will make sure we give back!<br />
<br />
Stay tuned to <a href="http://www.ineedacartony.com/">WWW.INEEDACARTONY.COM</a> and all social media vehicles associated for the date and venue!! ALSO ON ANOTHER NOTE....RIP TO MY GOOD FRIEND VIRGIL ROMAIN AKA THE KILLUMINATI KING!<br />

It's the 1st vacation I've had in 15 months. The funny thing is I plan on doing pretty much nothing, LOL. <br />
<br />
I still am getting information request about cars and will continue to locate vehicles and serve my customers. I'm very excited about the new <b>INEEDACARTONY</b> movement! We are so focused on changing the way people shop for cars and educating the public on the entire process. <br />
<br />
Our goal is to make sure you get the deal you couldn't get on your own in the past and the EXACT car you wanted. Sounds simple right?! There are other companies that practice a <b>NO HAGGLE</b> philosophy. But we can do the haggling for you!!<br />
<br />
We can let you know if you're getting the correct value on your trade! We can let you know if you are overpaying for the new vehicle or if it's a good deal! We can assist you with getting financed! We can also assist you with repairing your credit!! As they say on social media, "WHERE THEY DO THAT AT?" lol. <b>WWW.INEEDACARTONY.COM </b> Tell a friend and bring a friend to <b>THE SOCIAL MEDIA CARLOT!</b>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00430932660228934669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3788756843678595821.post-59458599846209219692015-01-02T18:30:00.003-08:002015-01-02T18:30:30.861-08:00Synthetic vs Conventional Oil<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

First off, synthetic oil is better than conventional oil when it comes to its form and <a href="http://auto.howstuffworks.com/engine6.htm" style="color: #005288; text-decoration: none;">function</a>. Conventional oil could never stand up to synthetic when it comes to longevity and ability to handle extreme high temperatures without breaking down.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px; width: auto;">
But all this advanced technology doesn't come cheap. A synthetic oil change can cost over twice as much as conventional oil...but is it worth it beyond its obvious better performance characteristics?</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px; width: auto;">
This is not exactly a straight yes or no answer to go along with this question as there are several variables to consider, but in general, most experts would agree that synthetic is (for now) the lesser of the two evils.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px; width: auto;">
Their logic stems from the fact that while conventional oil is evil because it is derived from petroleum, synthetics are unfortunately formed by chemicals that are no less harmful to the environment... but there is a difference here. Synthetics can last as much as three times longer than conventional oil, which means that you could be dumping less than 15 to 24 quarts of oil per year.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px; width: auto;">
This is of course assuming that you are not recycling your <a href="http://www.oilrecycling.gov.au/what-happens.html" style="color: #005288; text-decoration: none;">used oil</a>, because if you are, at least a good portion of this oil should be getting reused, but it is quite an extensive process to filter used oil for reuse...so the question still remains, which is better?</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px; width: auto;">
For your pocket book, there is not much of a difference if you allow your oil change cycles to last longer with synthetic. There is a debate on when you should <a href="http://www.thedailygreen.com/environmental-news/latest/green-oil-changes-460808" style="color: #005288; text-decoration: none;">change your oil</a>, because the age old consensus has always been every 3 months or 3,000 miles, whichever comes first.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px; width: auto;">
With todays technology, synthetics are cleaner and meaner (just not necessarily any greener). Their composition is much cleaner, because it is derived in a laboratory rather than nature, and it has been proven to have a lower volatility and therefore not vaporize out the exhaust as quickly.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px; width: auto;">
Synthetics have also been shown to produce less resistance in the <a href="http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/synthetic_vs_conventional_oil/index.html" style="color: #005288; text-decoration: none;">engine</a> and therefore offer more horsepower and overall efficiency for the engine. This added horsepower in return means that the engine will be able to perform at the same level as before, but using slightly less gas.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px; width: auto;">
Depending on where you drive (dusty, dirty climates), and how much and far you drive (shorter distances don't heat oil enough to boil off condensation in the engine), you can probably last between oil changes for 10,000, 15,000, on up to 20,000 miles with some brands of synthetic.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px; width: auto;">
There is a middle choice to make things even more confusing, the synthetic blend. This mixes the two together to give you a moderately better oil at better cost to you. These don't quite have the longevity of the full synthetics, so it really all comes out in the wash in the end.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px; width: auto;">
If you want to be on the safe side, you can follow what your manufacturer recommends as far as oil goes. In general more performance oriented vehicles require synthetic because of the high heat that builds in these engines, whereas conventional engines don't require anything special.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px; width: auto;">
While synthetics appear to be the more environmentally friendly choice for the moment, there is hope for a vegetable oil (such as <a href="http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/ncnu02/v5-029.html" style="color: #005288; text-decoration: none;">canola</a>) <a href="http://www.treehugger.com/files/2006/04/vegetable_motor.php" style="color: #005288; text-decoration: none;">alternative</a> that would beat synthetic in both form and function, as well as production price. But the same problem exists here as it does for some <a href="http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/05/biofuel-comparison-chart.php" style="color: #005288; text-decoration: none;">biofuel alternatives</a>.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px; width: auto;">
We would have to surrender part of our agricultural crops for food, to produce these crops for motor oil. Food for the planet...or a cleaner environment, why is there never a clearcut choice towards the path of least carbon foot resistance?</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px; width: auto;">
Until such a time that we have a more obvious choice, we can continue to make our best informed decisions on engine oil. Sometimes it is not so much a choice of right and a wrong, as it is a choice of the lesser of the two wrongs. Of course, if you are considering going electric, you cold bypass this dilemma altogether!</div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I-HO7stJ-1g/VKbhCh7tT8I/AAAAAAAAFIg/lxNniIRyXN4/s1600/211343.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I-HO7stJ-1g/VKbhCh7tT8I/AAAAAAAAFIg/lxNniIRyXN4/s1600/211343.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Buying a new car at the right time can pay off. Buyers who catch the dealer at just the right time can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars on their new-car transactions. Conventional wisdom states that the best time to buy is at the end of the year, when dealers are discounting vehicles to meet their annual sales goals. It's true: Buying at the end of the calendar year is smart. But there's no guarantee that a year-end sale will yield the best deal on every new-car model. And not every buyer can afford to wait. Fortunately, smart shoppers can get good deals all year long using the same logic that drives year-end bargain prices.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
That means understanding how dealers operate, then hitting them when they're most anxious to close sales. Nearly all new-car sales representatives work on commission, be it a percentage of the sale price or a flat rate per vehicle. Each individual involved in a dealer's sales process -- from the salesperson to the finance manager -- is given goals. That's why the year-end strategy works for buyers. Even when sales are strong in the first 11 months of the year, dealers push in December to meet or exceed their goals.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Of course, sales professionals don't wait until December to sell vehicles and meet goals. They work hard throughout the year to turn shoppers into buyers, and their short-term sales goals can be just as beneficial to buyers. Looking for this short-term push -- which actually happens <em style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">every day</em> -- can lead to an attractive deal for buyers.</div>
<h4 style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.3em; margin: 22px 0px 7px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<strong style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Timing Is Everything</strong></h4>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
At the end of the day, for example, sales and finance professionals are ready to head home. But a smart salesperson will not let a serious potential customer walk away just because the dealership is ready to turn off the lights and lock the doors. New-car shoppers can often negotiate strong deals during late hours, provided the salesperson thinks he or she is dealing with a serious buyer. Staying late to close a deal doesn't change the fact that everyone's ready to go home, so the dealer may make concessions to speed up the negotiation. Of course, shoppers may be tired and ready to go home, too, causing the plan to backfire. Make sure you're well-rested and ready to hang in there for the long haul if you decide to pursue this strategy.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
This same technique can be used at the end of the month or quarter, too, since dealers usually operate on a monthly cycle and use that time interval to measure sales. Hitting the dealership at the end of the month may be less stressful for buyers than negotiating at the end of the day, too; the atmosphere at the negotiating table may be calmer when salespeople are not anxious to get home to their families or personal lives. If the dealer or a sales representative is just shy of monthly goals, buyers could have a negotiating advantage. In some cases, buyers can get great deals at the end of the month even when sales goals are met. The reason is that special bonuses for salespeople sometimes kick in only after he or she reaches the monthly goals.</div>
<h4 style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.3em; margin: 22px 0px 7px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<strong style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">In Season</strong></h4>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Another smart time to buy a new car is late summer or early fall, when new-model-year vehicles are rolling into dealers' inventories. This year, buyers may get an attractive deal on a 2013 model vehicle, provided the replacement 2014 models are already on the lot. In some cases, dealers will even have the previous model year in stock. AutoTrader.com still has listings for brand-new 2012 model vehicles. On the other hand, buyers who demand the newest models will likely pay closer to the manufacturer's suggested retail price, or "sticker price." In the case of some all-new or redesigned models in high demand, dealers may ask for more than the sticker price. Don't expect to get both the latest model and the best deal. It's likely you'll have to make some concession if you want the best possible price.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Buying a new car at the end of the calendar year remains a good strategy because it follows the same logic as these other buying techniques; it's based on when the dealer is most anxious to negotiate. But the window for buying is relatively small, and not all shoppers can afford to wait. So hit the dealership any time demand is low -- even on a rainy or snowy day -- and you'll be more likely to save compared to the shopper who negotiates when the dealer is busy closing sales.</div>

To the untrained eye, most used-car lots look alike. But if you use this handy field guide, you can identify some of the different species so you can stalk and capture your prey — a great used-car deal.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
A new-car dealership is often a good source of used cars, but it is different from an independent used-car lot in several important ways. A new-car dealership is more easily held accountable for its sales practices because it is a franchise, answering ultimately to the carmaker. Furthermore, the new-car dealership is nearly always connected to a service department that reconditions vehicles and is available to repair the used cars it sells.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
While some independent used-car lots have been in business for decades, many others are transient and consist of little more than a piece of land to store cars and a trailer for the salespeople to write up the contracts. If an independent used-car dealer offers a warranty, the repairs are often handled by local garages.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
There are two more big differences between used cars that are sold by new-car dealers and the independents. New-car dealers will also offer <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/certified-cars/articles/" style="border: 0px; color: #004d99; cursor: pointer; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">certified pre-owned cars</a> (CPO). Such cars have a warranty backed by the carmaker, much like the warranty on a new car. Also, the new-car dealer may offer buyers loans from "captive" finance companies, which are lending institutions that carmakers have set up solely for auto loans and leases.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<strong style="border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Why Shop at an Independent Used-Car Lot?</strong><br />The main draw at many independent used-car lots is lower-priced cars, many of which new-car dealers won't carry in their inventory because of age. Larry Laskowski, executive director of the<a href="http://www.iadac.org/" style="border: 0px; color: #004d99; cursor: pointer; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;" target="new">Independent Automobile Dealers Association of California</a> (IADAC), says that at an independent used-car lot, a customer gets "a better selection in a greater price range." On the other hand, he says, at a new-car lot, "the inventory will be restricted to a few years old and whatever they feel comfortable selling."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
While there are many specialty used-car lots, Steve Monroe, owner of <a href="http://www.woodlakemotorsconroe.com/" style="border: 0px; color: #004d99; cursor: pointer; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;" target="new">Woodlake Motors</a> in Conroe, Texas, says an independent used-car lot usually reflects the tastes and needs of the area it serves. His business is in a suburb of Houston and many of his customers want cars in the $6,000-$9,000 range, although he also offers vehicles at much higher prices.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
"Trucks sell real nice here," Monroe says, adding that they make up about 30 percent of his inventory of 150 cars. "But I also try to keep something that will attract a guy who needs a second car, maybe for his teenager." Most of Monroe's customers have less than perfect credit, and as such are willing to pay 18 percent interest or more on loans that typically run for three years or less.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Monroe stocks his lot by purchasing vehicles from auctions and private parties. Typically, he purchases a car at wholesale cost, has it transported to his lot for about $150 and then spends from $750-$1,000 reconditioning it. These expenses contribute to his asking price for the vehicle.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Now that you have a general idea of how used-car lots work, and the difference between new-car dealerships and independent used-car lots, here are some of the different subspecies of used-car lots that shoppers are likely to encounter.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<strong style="border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Used-car superstores:</strong> These car lots are independent in the sense that they are usually not connected with a new-car dealership. In fact, an Internet search of any major city followed by "used-car superstore" yields many listings. One such company, <a href="http://www.carmax.com/" style="border: 0px; color: #004d99; cursor: pointer; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;" target="new">CarMax</a>, is growing quickly and has a vast inventory of used cars. Unlike the smaller used-car lots, CarMax offers no-haggle pricing, plus longer warranties. Of course, it's important to remember that while no-haggle pricing means lower stress, it doesn't always mean the lowest price.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<strong style="border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Specialty used-car lots:</strong> Often, a used-car dealer will develop a preference for a certain brand or type of car and, over time, his inventory reflects this. In other cases, it's the clientele that dictates the choice of cars on the lot. Examples are used-car lots that sell German cars (Audi, BMW and Mercedes) or perhaps just luxury vehicles. Sometimes these lots will narrow the focus even further, selling classic cars of a certain vintage, for example.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
While pricing at specialty lots isn't necessarily lower, the variety may be greater. Car collectors and aficionados who are searching for hard-to-find models often buy from such lots as these.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<strong style="border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Consignment used-car lots:</strong> These lots sell vehicles for private parties who don't want the hassle of handling the transactions themselves. Usually the cars come from local owners, so the choice will reflect the local economy and lifestyle.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
There's only one real advantage to buying from a consignment lot rather than going directly to the person who owns the car: The lot will be able to finance the purchase. Interest rates, however, will usually be higher. The prices will be higher, too, since there's a middleman involved.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<strong style="border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">"Buy Here, Pay Here" car lots:</strong> These lots are so named because they finance a buyer's purchase, but then require buyers to make their monthly payments in person. If the owner gets behind on the loan and then returns in the car to make a payment, it makes it easier for the dealer to repossess the vehicle.</div>

The owners of <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/car-buying/how-to-buy-and-maintain-a-very-inexpensive-car.html" style="border: 0px; color: #004d99; cursor: pointer; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Buy Here, Pay Here lots</a> justify this practice by arguing that they are taking a financial risk in order to provide cars to people who have no other car-buying options. However, the interest rates involved are usually double or triple the going rate for an auto loan, which greatly increases the chances that the buyer will default on the loan and have to give up the car.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<strong style="border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Shopping Tips for Independent Used-Car Lots</strong><br />Shopping for a used car at an independent lot requires a bit more expertise than shopping for a new car or even shopping for a used car at a new-car dealer's lot. Asking prices at used-car lots are typically high to begin with, and many buyers don't realize that they have to negotiate extensively to reach a deal. If a consumer doesn't have an appetite for actively negotiating, it's probably best to steer clear of an independent car business. Also, since independents offer older cars with higher mileage and without warranties, determining the condition is more critical and harder to do, particularly when some dealers might try to cover up flaws.</div>

Used-car dealer Monroe suggests that shoppers find out the car's trade-in and dealer retail prices and negotiate in that range. <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/car-buying/edmundscoms-tmv-the-magic-number.html" style="border: 0px; color: #004d99; cursor: pointer; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Edmunds.com True Market Value<span style="border: 0px; font-size: 10px; height: 0px; line-height: 1; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: text-top;">®</span> pricing</a> offers trade-in, private-party and dealer retail prices. Keep in mind that the dealer will spend some money reconditioning a used car. So when you're deciding on an opening offer to start <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/car-buying/negotiating-101.html" style="border: 0px; color: #004d99; cursor: pointer; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">negotiations</a>, add a reconditioning fee of $500-$1,000 to the trade-in price.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
To check the condition of a used car, Monroe recommends getting a vehicle history report. In addition, he says a buyer should also take the vehicle to a reputable mechanic for inspection. Larry Laskowski, a member of the IADAC, agrees. He adds that by law, all independent car lots in California are required to post signs in their sales offices acknowledging that a mechanic can inspect a vehicle before purchase.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.8; margin-bottom: 18px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Research and patience can easily offset the extra challenges of shopping at independent used-car lots and lead you to a reliable used car at a good price</div>

<i>Courtesy of Autotrader.com</i></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Once you've finally decided to replace your current car, the next question to ask yourself is: Should I buy new or used?</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
That depends. Unfortunately there is no one-size-fits-all answer. There are sound reasons to buy new and sound reasons to buy used.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Too often the only questions we ask ourselves: Will I look good behind the wheel? and How big a monthly car payment can I afford? Neither of these questions will help you make smarter car buying decisions.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Here's a tip: Buying a car based on how much car payment you think you can afford per month will almost always ensure you buy too much car and pay too much for it. It's also the wrong question to ask yourself when deciding between new and used.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
When making the new vs. used decision, each of us must examine our unique set of financial and life requirements. A little introspection is good for the soul and the wallet.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
For most people, we think it makes more sense to buy used, but there are some exceptions.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Here are four questions to help you be a smarter consumer and navigate the new-used decision-making process.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<strong style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Do you have a down payment or a trade-in with equity?</strong></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
If your credit is good, you may have less problem buying new with little or no down payment than buying used. That's because many manufacturers offer incentives for new cars that simply aren't available in the used-car market. These are typically in the form of rebates, cash incentives and discounted financing.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Financing a used car will almost always require money down, whether in cash or a trade-in with equity.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
If you do your research and wait for the right opportunity, you may find a new car with a large enough manufacturer incentive to cover the down-payment requirements.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<strong style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Is there a good reason you, rather than someone else, should take the huge new-car depreciation hit?</strong></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Depreciation, or the loss in a car's value over time, is sneaky because it's a hidden cost most of us don't face until trade-in time.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
But if a car depreciates, say, $7,500 from the time you buy it to the day you sell it, that's like throwing $7,500 away. That's $7,500 you will never get back and won't have available to spend on other things.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
There's usually an emotional tie with a car that's missing in our relationship with the vacuum cleaner or washing machine; but in reality, a car is just another appliance. It's not a buddy; it's not an investment. It can convey status and provide some pleasure, but it won't make us smarter, better looking, more interesting or wealthier.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Because of depreciation, generally it makes more sense to buy used and here's why: On average, a new car loses between 20 and 30 percent of its value the moment it rolls off the dealer's lot. Some cars can depreciate up to 50 percent in the first three years.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
You don't have to take our word for it. Kelley Blue Book has a <a href="http://www.kbb.com/new-cars/total-cost-of-ownership/" style="border: 0px; color: #505fbb; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none !important; vertical-align: baseline;" target="_blank">Cost of Ownership</a> calculator designed to figure the average five-year costs of any vehicle, including depreciation.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
According to that calculator if you purchased a 2012 <a href="http://www.autotrader.com/honda-accord.jsp" style="border: 0px; color: #505fbb; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none !important; vertical-align: baseline;">Honda Accord</a> EX Sedan with a suggested retail price of $25,875, it would depreciate a whopping $6,735 in your first year of ownership and $1,883 in the second. That is, it would be worth 74 percent of its original value after the first year and 67 percent after year two. It would only be worth $15,525, or 60 percent of its original value, after three years. And Honda has a better track record for retaining value than many other brands.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
How do you feel about throwing away $10,000 every three years?</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
If you purchased a two-year-old EX, the average retail price, according to KBB.com, would be $20,675. That's a purchase-price savings of $5,200 - all of which is depreciation.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Depreciation, though, has little affect on owners who drive a car until the wheels fall off. After more than a decade or two, that old beater won't be worth much in terms of trade-in or resale value any way. Those same owners, however, don't seem to mind driving an older car, so why not buy a two-year-old model to begin with and save more than $5,000 on the purchase price?</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Buying used should also translate into lower insurance premiums and personal property taxes - meaning even more savings.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<strong style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Can you afford to maintain and repair a used car?</strong></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Some carmakers offer free maintenance for the initial years of new-car ownership. That's in sharp contrast to the average cost of upkeep for a used car. It can be argued that buying used is just assuming someone else's problems. It's a roll of the dice.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
You can take some steps to minimize the likelihood that you are buying a "problem" used car by having it inspected by a qualified mechanic and obtaining a detailed vehicle history report from an agency like Carfax or AutoCheck before buying, but some issues may still go undetected.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
No matter how well a car has been cared for, at 30,000 plus miles, some bits and parts are going to naturally wear out; consequently, maintenance and replacement costs will be higher for a used car than a new one.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Unlike depreciation, repairs and maintenance are hard costs that must be addressed as they arise. KBB estimates that a two-year-old Honda Accord EX will cost $1,838 in maintenance and repairs the first year you own it. Those costs drop to $880 the next year, but it's still a substantial amount. These are costs for which you will need to budget. Do you have the discipline to do that?</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
If you buy a nearly new used car, you may inherit some portion of the new-car warranty providing some protection for a few months or even a couple of years. Many car companies now provide powertrain warranties for five, six or even ten years. But be sure to check the automaker's rules on transferring the warranty before you buy.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Many car companies also offer certified pre-owned cars that cost a little more, but offer a factory-backed limited warranty.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<strong style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Can you cope with the time a used car spends in the shop?</strong></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Not only does a used car cost more to keep operating, but it will likely spend more time in the shop. It may only be a day here and there, but could be a week or more for bigger repairs.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
On average, new cars spend less time in the shop. Moreover some manufacturers or dealers offer loaner cars during routine maintenance visits while a car is under warranty. Can you deal with a used car's extra down time?</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-right: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Once you answer these questions for yourself, you will figure out whether it makes more sense for you to buy a new or used car.</div>
